LOVE IT!!, August 23, 2011 By This review is from: Viper 5701 (P/n 5202v, 5202b) 2-way Remote Start Car Alarm with One LED Transmitters (Electronics) I had this product professionally installed and have never had any problems with it. The range is amazing; quarter of a mile I think, and I love the indicator which tells me if the system was activated or not. If installed and programmed correctly, the car CANNOT start on its own. It's not possible- you have to unlock the remote first, as if you're getting it out of sleep mode. You just activate the remote and then tell it what you want it to do; i.e. start the car, unlock/lock the doors, open the trunk. I have had other Viper remote starts which did start the car on accident when the remote was in my pocket. This system will give an error signal, beeping for a couple of seconds, if something has been pushed without activating the remote first. This system has performed every command I have given when in range. Start the car before you leave home, are at the check-out lane, before leaving work, ... you'll be in a comfortable climate when you get in.

This is the best bang for your buck. I usually get the refurbished ones for about $100 and they sell like crazy. I always tell people to choose this over the one way alarms. This system is only a little bit more but has a TON of feature. If you want longer range and an LCD remote, the 5901 and 5902 are great systems too. But this is more than enough range for most people and it has a nice slim remote that looks great.

There is a mobile feature that can be added. The key is getting a knowledgeable installer. I'm an Electrical Engineer but I'm glad I found a very good installer. This would be a rather daunting task even for the most inclined DIY. There are just little tricks of the trade that are needed for a great installation. The product itself is great.
