16 of 16 people found the following review helpful Good Nav System but software needs work., May 15, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Myron & Davis NV7TPR1 2008-2011 Toyota Prius In-Dash Navigation System (Electronics) UPDATE: Well first off dont even consider buying this Nav system for now $1,200 bucks...Seriously Amazon???
All of the annoyances of my orig review are still accurate. Bad software, so-so nav that gets confused all the time, no real support or updates etc etc.
Plus side? Im trading in my 2010 Prius this week and this added $2,500 to the trade-in blue book value.
So guess I cant complain.
Going back to my fav Acura Nav with voice commands...its the best I have ever used.
Good luck!
I have been looking for an in-dash Navigation System for the 2010 Toyota Prius for about a year now. The Toyota Dealer wanted a jaw dropping $4,000 for the factory system (yea right). The next best thing I could find was the Rosen a good quality OEM unit but hard to find and pricey.
So rather than give up, I checked out this Myron & Davis unit which is also an OEM type of unit. The photos on Amazon don't really do it justice. It matches the Prius trim perfectly... Read more
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Don't buy it, October 18, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Myron & Davis NV7TPR1 2008-2011 Toyota Prius In-Dash Navigation System (Electronics) The good:
1) looks nice
2) plug and play install
3) audio quality is nice
The Bad:
1 very flakey software
2 GPS maps have many errors
3 Route taken is often completely wrong, uses shortest distance regardless of the type of roads.
4 Very slow menu, key access
5 touch screen is flakey, left side of the screen has an offset, hits the wrong keys, have to press hard
6 Text to speech is distorted and hard to understand. Cuts out music completely, very annoying. Always yabbering about nothing.
7 Ipod interface is flakey, sometimes works. Cuts off all ipod track names to 13 characters when there is space on the screen for 25 at least.
8 Bluetooth is useless. Drops connections, too quiet to hear in both directions.
9 They want you to install the magnetic GPS antenna on the roof of the car. It is not windshield mountable (would be upside-down)
10) Maps always zoomed in too much to be of any use... Read more
